A Tribute To Getting Older!

So...today is my birthday! I thought I would share an experience I had a few weeks ago which might make you laugh:

A Facial Experience
Pat got me a gift certificate to a spa for Mother's Day about 2 years ago and I finally ended up using it! I decided to get a facial (knowing my birthday was coming up gave me the feelings of wanting to look younger). Anyway, the lady doing my facial was really sweet and nice, but kept asking me about my skin...ie: Do you drink enough water? What do you wash your face with? How do you take care of your skin?
Where was this conversation heading? See, I have always had dry skin, ever since I was a kid. And living in California has actually helped some...I guess it hasn't been enough though. I drink water (nursing), I use good lotion (probably not the most expensive), and I make sure to stay out of the sun as much as I can (plus I wear sunscreen frequently).
Well, at the end of my relaxing experience, the lady came in to talk.
"How old are you?" she asked.
"28 almost 29" I relay. (trying to make myself seem a little older so my skin would match my age)
She went on to say, "Well, you don't have wrinkles, but you do have FACIAL CREASES!"
I was laughing inside! I don't know if there is such a thing as facial creases (Rachel maybe you can give me some insight). I am trying to look at it this way...I must smile a lot!
What do you know, I am smiling as I type up this story! HAHA!!

I thought everyone had facial creases! Although I just call them wrinkles?

Lol. sounds like she was trying to sell you their own facial products if you ask me. She probably as an "anti facial crease" cream, for people with creases but no wrinkles. Ha! I don't think you have any creases. The party sure was fun. HAPPY BIRTHDAY!

Be glad that you live in California and not here, cause if I really sang that to you, you might become deaf!! Anyways hope your day is a special day. When are you coming to Utah? We should all go to lunch or dinner to celebrate.

Looks like its time to get out the BOTOX! Haha. Yeah, I wonder what she would say if I went in, cause I do have wrinkles! I however like to think of them as laugh lines! I don't know, I guess I wouldn't mind looking like a mannequin though:)

hahahaha I have never heard of face creases. But I can say that even as an esthetician, I love peoples wrinkles. I think it shows so much character. and I actually love crows feet because when people smile, it makes me think of happy eyes :) So no worries. Although keep up with the sunscreen because that can be a health hazard. (and the moisturizer because that makes your skin healthy too!) AND good job on going and getting a facial. Every one needs to take a time out and relax. It is good for your mind, spirit and skin! :)

Oh, that is so stinking funny. We get older and our bodies do too. It cracks me up to see someone with 70 year old hands that has more plastic in their Barbie doll face than a Tupperware cupboard. Thanks Rachel for your comment about wrinkles and laugh lines. We earn them by years of happy living and laughing at ourselves and life. Brooke is always so sweet to tell Grandma and I how beautiful we are inside and out when we go get our hair done. Birthdays are just another day to celebrate being alive. Keep celebrating! Love ya.
