The Dilema...

So, I pose a question and I need suggestions:

Q: What do you do when your 2 (soon to be 2 1/2) year old tells you (for the past month) that they need to sleep in the crib?

Kayla is 6 months old now and she is safely sleeping on a full bed in Arianna's room while I figure this out. Alayna is really attached to routine right now and I have tried to convince and actually have tried to get her to sleep in Arianna's room like a big girl. Alayna ends up crying and wants her crib.

A: ? Suggestions are more than welcome!

Maybe just try to take the crib down and put the matress on the floor. Since Kayla isn't using it right now anyway, you could keep it down until Alayna isn't asking for it anymore then put it back up. I don't know if it will work, but if it isn't there as an option, it might make things a little easier. Hope something works.

You may have done this, but make the big girl bed as appetizing as possible, like get her really fun sheets, or a special new toy that stays on the bed to play with at night, or a treat when she stays there. Can you tell bribery is our style? haha. I know there's a library book about leaving the crib and going to a big girl bed. Some personalities just have a hard time with change. She'll come around. :)

Just let her stay in the crib. Why not? When Kayla starts rolling too much, put her in a pack and play. Amy spent many of her newborn/toddler months in a pack and play because we moved 4 times before she was 2. Kayla won't mind at all if Alayna uses her crib for a while longer. These transitions never go as smoothly as we envision them, so even though it is frustrating at the moment, it doesn't really matter in the long run. Take the path of least resistance!

cribs are cozy and feel more secure. Jen is going through the same thing with Audrey and Hydee.
